Preparing for Fall Festivities

Every year I vow to start prepping for all the fall activities earlier.  It’s such a busy season with many holidays back to back.  As someone that craves order and creating a less stressful vibe during all the fall festivities, I wanted to share with you my approach in preparing my wardrobe (and my family):

  1. START NOW-I know it feels like you have time but you don’t.  Well you don’t if you want to be proactive.  I’m not trying to stress you out, but really just trying to inspire you to spring into action (myself included).

  2. CREATE A LIST-Every great plan starts with making a list.  I would literally pull out your calendar and plan out everything from now until the new year (halloween costume, family photos, football games, thanksgiving, Christmas party, etc.).  Make a list of all the special occasions, what items are needed, and then go one step further to making your shopping list from there.  There will certainly be items you already have and don’t need to shop for everything.  Many of these special occasions also include your family (if applicable) so once you get your list in order, do the same exercise for your family.  Email me here to get a document that will help you create this list.

  3. BE STRATEGIC-I always try to be strategic on planning out my outfits in ways that I can rewear pieces.  If it’s a new item for Christmas, I think about different events that I can wear that item multiple times.  For my kids, if I need to buy them a nice pair of shoes, I pick out something that is versatile for all the holidays.

  4. SHOP NOW-I would definitely purchase as many things now.  This will give you time to exchange sizes if you need to and switch out an item.  I’ve already seen Christmas items come out for many brands even starting as early as July.  And for those brands that you love that might now bring out their holiday items until later leave those to the last item on your list to check off.  You will be less frantic because you have taken care of everything else.

  5. ENJOY THE FESTIVITIES-After all this planning, you will be ready to enjoy all the fall festivities with no stress and more fashionable looks!  Enjoy my friends!
