SUMMER STYLING: Breathable looks for the summer

While we have had the most dreamy weather lately, the crazy Texas heat is coming for us soon.  No matter what stage of life you are in, breathable looks for the summer are essential.  As a culture that is obsessed with athleisure, I realize this is a go to for so many because of comfort and the weather in Texas (hello wicking material!!).  I promise you can still be comfortable with breathable looks that aren’t just lulu lemon every.single.day.  Here’s some tips for your summer styling with breathable looks:

  1. FABRIC - Fabric is key!!!  A few top choices to consider are linen, cotton, chambray, wicking material, and bamboo.  I’ve found that it’s a personal choice as I have clients that can’t stand linen and others that’s a go to fabric choice.  The good news there are many great options to choose from.  Hone in on what works for you and stick with that when shopping for breathable pieces.

  2. COLOR - Light color fabrics are a must!  Stay away from gray (at least for tee shirts)…it shows all the pit stains and sweat.  Also choose patterns that could easily camouflage sweat stains.

  3. FIT - Choose flowy loose-fitting items.  Nothing is more uncomfortable in the Texas heat than super tight clothing.  You don’t necessarily have to wear something that feels like a tent, but rather something with a little movement.  If you love wicking material, you can find pieces that look more like everyday clothing instead of workout clothes.

  4. UNDERGARMENTS - I personally tend to wear my strapless bras a lot more in the summer because my dresses typically have thin straps.  I would make sure you have a couple of strapless bras in your wardrobe to switch out because we sweat SO much.  I also would find a couple of bralettes that work for your body.  They can be a more comfortable undergarment and honestly feel like something in between a normal bra and a sports bra.

I’ve sourced a few breathable looks here to give you some inspiration as you prepare for the summer heat.
