Back to School Shopping!
I’m not sure what happened to the summer. Did it fly by for you guys too? Like faster than normal, but it has been a summer filled with lots of precious memories that we are so thankful for in our family. I realize it’s not even August and I’m bringing up Back to School Shopping. I know many of us are still holding on to those last few weeks of summer. However, I would suggest you get your back to school shopping done so you can check it off the list and enjoy the rest of our summer. A few tips when prepping for back to school:
SHOP EARLY - I feel like I start earlier and earlier each year to make sure I can find my kid’s sizes. This year I happened to be at Target the second week of July and noticed the fall clothes were out. I guess they are now putting things out the end of June/first of July!!! Crazytown! While it feels like the dead middle of summer, get your clothes, sneakers, backpacks and school supplies early.
SHOP ONLINE - If you are shopping from a retailer that you shop with often, I would completely skip shopping in store and do it online. So much has changed with covid regarding shopping. Yes there are so many more delays, but there are also many more options with shopping online. It truly has never been easier to shop. I will say there is one exception to this and that is shoe shopping. To avoid extra returns, I pretty much only do this in person.
LET THEM PICK IT OUT - I have learned the hard way, that it is much easier to let my kids pick things out. This applies to the new clothes, sneakers, backpacks, and supplies. It also applies to what they wear everyday. My kids have been getting themselves dressed and picking out their outfits since they were 3. You should see the looks that they come up with (mostly Jonathan at this point) on their own but I think it’s important to give them that freedom and independence.
While we love our summers, we are always excited to get back to school in the fall. HAPPY back to school shopping friends and enjoy the last dog days of summertime!
with LOVE and grace,
Elizabeth
