Shopping Proactively NOT Reactively
As a wardrobe consultant, I am lucky to get to do so many different things with style and fashion each and every day! And today, I am here to educate you on thinking differently about your wardrobe.
It has always been my goal to make building a wardrobe that is attainable for everyone at any budget. In doing that, I love to encourage people to think PROACTIVELY instead of reactively! What does this mean you might ask?? Well, here are some simply ways to look at the matter:
Plan Ahead - One of the easiest ways to have a proactive mindset with your wardrobe is by planning ahead. In a world of fast fashion we are always tempted to run out last minute for an outfit or buy multiple things and return what we don’t LOVE. The problem with this is that we often times don’t return, causing clutter in our closets, and we don’t always end up with items we truly love and will wear again long term.
Don’t Forget About Wardrobe Essentials - Making sure you have a solid foundation of wardrobe essentials is a great way to also not over buy and to keep your wardrobe culled down over time. I suggest doing a closet clean out twice a year, and making sure your basics are up to date each time!
Fill In Your Existing Wardrobe - Keeping inventory on your current wardrobe and filling in is another GREAT way to stay proactive in your own closet. By just purchasing things you need and knowing what you already have allows you to cut down on buying less timeless pieces.
