Decorating for the 4th

As a creative, I look for any opportunity to create.  You are mostly familiar with me creative looks with clothes and accessories.  However, I love creating in my home.  Any holiday is extra fun to decorate and infuse the colors of the season.  These are a few ways that I incorporate decorating for the 4th of July in my home:

1.    Pillows - Pillows are a great way to liven up a space without going “all out”. You can easily stock a few pillows for different holidays and change the scape of a room.  TIP: Try to only buy new seasonal pillowcases in the same size of the current pillows/stuffing that you use.  That way you have only the pillow cases to store

2.    Table Linens-I love red & white gingham for the 4th of July.  However I also use red/white stripe linens, blue runners, and blue placemats.  There really are so many different ways that you can incorporate linens in the colors of July 4th.   When buying a new table linen, I always try to think about the various different ways that I can utilize this color/pattern.  The great thing about 4th of July is there are a few other holidays that use red, white and/or blue.

3.    Cocktail Napkins - This is perhaps my favorite one! I love having cocktail napkins for different occasions. It’s so fun to find napkins that fit each event, and they are such a cute little detail that make a big difference where you least expect it.  While I love a great hemstitch cocktail napkin, my favorite paper version is Caspari.  For all you Austinites, I find different caspari options at Breed & Co., Randalls, and Central Market.

4.    Flag - This feels like a no brainer for the 4th, but one I think often gets overlooked. Adding the American Flag into decor scapes and a large stand alone outside your home is a lovely way to show pride and decorate!

5.    White Flowers - Did anyone say hydrangeas?! Adding flowers to a table scape or a backyard BBQ is a lovely way to add to your holiday look and something you can then repurpose around your house in the days to come!  Also choosing one color palette and mixing a variety of different flowers can make a huge impact.  I typically choose white for this holiday because I tend to have much more red and blue to decorate in other ways.  TIP: When I buy flowers, I always triple the amount of flowers I think I need to ensure I have a plush arrangement.  If I end up with a few extras, I just put them in bud vases and place in each of our bedrooms.  Flowers in the home just bring a cozy feeling!!!

6.    Blue & White - I love a good blue and white combo moment. You can do this with a great pattern on plates, vases, linens, serving platters and much more.  Flo Blue is my favorite and always reminds me of my granny.  It is a beautiful way to keep things classic and beautiful.

7.    Dressing in RED, WHITE, BLUE - What is a better decoration than YOURSELF?! Dressing in Red, White, and Blue is a lovely way to add a fun bonus spark to your decor!  You guys know I’m always looking for ways to match anything I can!

HAPPY decorating and HAPPY 4th of July!!

With LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth
