It is with a deep respect and much LOVE that we kick off 2021 with Lorena Junco Margain and her LOVE Yourself story.  Lorena has made a MAJOR impact on my life and I had no idea that would be the case 10 years ago when we met.  Over the past years, I’ve had the privilege to work side by side with her on many fascinating projects.  Our current project together is multifaceted, but focused on a common mission of spreading forgiveness as a force for personal and universal change.

Lorena has a book and podcast that will launch in March (YAY!!!), but she has SO much more in the works (blogs, online store, more books).  Her book,    On the Way to Casa Lotus, is the gripping true story of Lorena’s journey coming to terms with the permanent consequences of a surgeon’s devastating mistake.

If you don’t know Lorena already, I promise you will want to follow her journey and all the goodness she invests into the world.  She is INSPIRING, a hard worker, extremely creative, a student of life, full of laughter, super sharp, and I can go on and on.   At this point, you can follow her on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.  Her website will be launching soon.  It’s with great pride that I share my dear friend Lorena’s LOVE Yourself story.

1. What does LOVE Yourself mean to you?

When you asked this question, I had to stop and rethink on how to explain the word Love.  Hmmmm, Love’s book definition is an intense feeling of deep affection. And it totally agrees with how I love. It’s intense and bursting outward but at the same time inward... it goes deep. It’s beyond just caring, which covers the basic needs. It includes the word affection which is a feeling of fondness. Yes, that’s love.... it’s a verb and a noun we are love and we give love. LOVE embraces everything, the good and the bad. It just is.

2. Did you have a someone that exuded a positive body image for you growing up?  A family member, friend, mentor, etc.

I have always been harsh and tough on my body’s opinion. I don’t understand why since I used to have a beautiful body. I guess when you are a hormonally teen we are confused. HA!  But definitely Cyndy Crawford was my whoa! Lady! I still think she is gorgeous

3. Do you tear your body apart vocally?

It’s more of a silent dialogue in my mind. Something like... another year and still worrying about body size.... here we go again. Even if I was a size 4 or 14, I had the same dialogue. I need to be content on the now. I think that’s the lesson to be learned. After my medical malpractice, I’m just happy I’m alive 😍

4. Are you working to improve your mindset around body image or is it a neutral mindset for you?

You have inspired me to restart working on my wardrobe and getting dressed up for me not for someone else. And it does cheer me up!

I listen to my body. There are days for pajama days too:)

5. Do you have anyone that you are trying to set a healthy example for

For my kids, It’s not a should do this or that example. I prefer deep respect. And empowering them with the concept that they are a reflection of beauty and self-expression. And I accept who they are.

with LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth
