5 Ways To Style Practically

Many think styling and their minds automatically go to spending money or stuffing your closet with clothes. I am here to tell you first hand, the trick to my way of styling others is by dressing them practically. Here are my top 5 tips to styling in a practical way:

  1. Mix and Match - Winter clothes can be summer clothes and all that inbetween. Buying practical jeans and bottoms can help transition you into different seasons, and using layering pieces like tanks and tees during the winter as staples during the summer is also helpful.

  2. Buy Staple Shoes - Of course, we are all going to splurge on a heel or two we just CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT! But there is something to be said about having practical shoes in your wardrobe and sticking to them. Make sure to have standard colors and fits: a sandal, flat, heel and sneaker.

  3. Ask Yourself “Does This Interfere With My Life?” - This tip has multiple levels. The clothes themself should not interfere with your daily lifestyle. If you are fidgeting with your shirt or skirt all day long it isn’t practical. On the flip side, your wardrobe as a whole shouldn’t interfere with your overall life. If you have too much (or even too little) you will find yourself stressing and not enjoying your clothing like you should.

  4. Curate Your Wardrobe To Your Location - It is very practical to know where you live and sticking to it. There is no need to own 30 coats when you live in Texas. Yes, they are all gorgeous… but unfortunately you might never wear them all!

  5. Touch On All Your Basis - Make sure when trying to dress practically that you take the time to check your wardrobe and see what is missing and what you have too much of. This will help you filter through and create a more well rounded versatile wardrobe.

All in all styling practically is a great way to define your style and learn the ins and outs of your own wardrobe. And if you get stuck working your way through, you know where to find me!
