How to get pool ready

Are you guys starving to get back to any type of normalcy?  YESSSS Please!!!I With the recent news of things opening back up, I can’t help to start planning some type of normal spring/summer activities.  Living in the Texas heat (it’s coming soon!), we spend tons of time by the pool.  So while we are still at home, these are the steps I would recommend to get Pool Ready:

1.Edit your swim attire-Before you consider purchasing anything new, look through everything to see what needs to leave your swim wardrobe.  This includes not only swimsuits, but also cover ups, flip flops, hats, sunnies, and pool/beach bags.  If you’re having a hard time deciding if something should stay or go, ask yourself this question: “Does this ______ make me feel like the best version of myself?”  I’m constantly encouraging my clients to put aside those guilty feelings and just consider if the piece truly belongs in your wardrobe.

2.Make a Shopping List-I would recommend that you plan past just a swimsuit if you are craving a pulled together stylish pool look.  I suggest the following items in your swim wardrobe:

  1. Swimsuit

  2. Coverup

  3. Hat

  4. Sunnies

  5. Jewelry

  6. Flip Flops

  7. Pool Bag

  8. Turkish/Beach Towel

  9. Sunscreen

  10. Body Shimmer

I’ve sourced some of my current favorites in each of these categories HERE.

3.Take Your Time-Try on, try on and try on some more!!!  Don’t settle for anything short of the right pieces.  Our typical fast pace lifestyle doesn’t necessarily encourage everyone to take the time to find the right pieces.  I see this all the time while cleaning out closets…so many clothing items that my clients just purchased because it kinda worked and fit the bill for the moment.  I would rather you not purchase a new piece then get something that is just okay.  Who wants to have a wardrobe full of “just okay” pieces?  Not me!!!  Trying on swimsuits is like trying on jeans.  It’s emotional and it’s hard to find the right fit.  If you are patient and keep trying, I promise you will find the right swimsuit for you!!!

4.Style Looks-Don’t’ be afraid to STYLE UP a look for the pool!!!  Yes, think of it like you are styling a look to go out with your girlfriends.  Start out small by incorporating something new each time you visit the pool.  Try something different and get creative!  Don’t be afraid to stand out and look different than all your friends and everyone else at the pool.  ☺

For what it’s worth, I don’t necessarily go to the pool jazzed up to the nines every single time.  However, I do try to incorporate some of these things most times I’m pool bound.  I realize it takes a little extra effort, but as I’ve said before…I go the extra mile to style myself up because it makes we feel CONFIDENT.  These suggestions to get pool ready are for inspiration and to offer ways for you to get outside of your box.  We should continue to evolve as individuals and also our personal style.  Your swim wardrobe should also evolve.  Here’s to many stylish pool days ahead!!!

with LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth
