LOVE Yourself: Joy Kling

unnamed.jpg

My friend Joy truly lives up to her name.  She is oozing with JOY and is one of the most pleasant people to be around.  I met Joy my freshman year going through rush at Southwest Texas State (it’s still hard for me to call it Texas State).  Joy has always been one of those girls that organizes happenings for friends.  She is a gatherer and welcoming of all friends type of gal.  In fact, I think they call her the mayor of her country club.  She exudes such positive energy that everyone gravitates towards her.  In fact, she spreads her sparkling personality and talents to her clients through her interior design work at Joy Kling Interior Design.  You can find her @joykling on Instagram.  Her positive energy is exactly why I thought she would be perfect to feature for our LOVE Yourself series.

1.What does LOVE Yourself mean to you?

My BFF since Kindergarten, has always reminded me to be kind to myself. We teach kindness to all of our children and it makes perfect sense to start with self.

2.Did you have a someone that exuded a positive body image for you growing up?  A family member, friend, mentor, etc.

My sweet Grandma, always said “Pretty is as pretty does”. She and my Mother both emphasized what was on the inside was more important than what was on the outside.

3.Do you tear your body apart vocally?

Not really, until I’m in the fitting room trying on swimsuits preparing for spring break. The MiracleSuit is totally my go to!!!

4.Are you working to improve your mindset around body image or is it a neutral mindset for you?

After my second child, my sweet friend invited me to join her at Pure Barre Class. I recently completed my 500th class in October. It is my jam and definitely helps me stay strong and improves my mood and mindset!

5.Do you have anyone that you are trying to set a healthy example for?

I’m trying to set a healthy example for my children. I want them both to have healthy expectations and goals for their bodies! We have recently started reading “The Miracle Morning”, and I highly recommend it!

with LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth
