TOP 5 tips to look editorial

So in my opinion there are two different types of editorial styling:

  1. There is editorial fashion that looks like it needs to stay on the magazine pages.   You know what I’m talking about…those pants that look 5 times too big OR layer upon layer upon layer (no one can actually move around with that many layers on!)

  2. Then there is editorial fashion that I want to wear off the magazine pages.  Those elaborate Dolce & Gabana “very Italian” ads.  GORGEGOUS!!!  OR All of the Gucci Ads grab my attention and I want to instantly wear it all!

So if you find yourself inspired by the later, I’m here to offer 5 Tips to Look Editorial:

  1. Don’t be afraid to take a risk-I think sometimes the only difference between someone that looks “Fashionable” is that they are willing to take chances.  Be BOLD and try something new!

  2. Go BOLD with your colors-Again, I’m encouraging you to get outside of your box and go BOLD with your colors.  I promise that if you simply wear color it will allow you to stand out and most times elevate your look.  My favorite is color blocking!

  3. Print on Print-Oh yes, I mean it….print + print = fashion forward!!!  Just look for at least one common color between the two prints to make sure you have a coordinated pulled together look.  You can do it!!!

  4. Accessories are key-Accessories are the icing on the cake and really make you look fashionable.  Start slow by just adding one more extra accessory than you are used to.  For me, MORE is MORE as the creative Iris Apfel so famously says.

  5. Change up your hair + make up-Something as simple as a top knot and red lip can really elevate your look when you typically wear your hair down with a gloss lip every day.  You don’t have to go overboard with this but simple changing it up a bit can take your look to the next level.

with LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth

As a wardrobe consultant for the everyday woman, I don’t typically dapple in editorial fashion.  Except for finding inspiration from my magazines.  Inspiration is everywhere if you open your eyes to it.  Magazines are one of the easiest and best resources to look for new ideas for your style.
