Senior Year, Styled
Senior year is such an exciting time for all the young women and men in our lives! They are getting ready to leave the nest and begin the next phase of life. For us parents on the other hand, it is a time of nerves, event planning, and a whole lot of shopping!! The number of outfits, especially for a young woman, during this time can be OVERWHELMING! Graduation parties, graduation day, pinning ceremonies, upcoming Rush and so much more! It is all a lot to take in and even more to plan for!
Here are some tips I have on helping you manage it all and allowing some time to truly enjoy all the exciting times coming your way:
START EARLY - I cannot stress enough how starting early can be the determining factor to keeping this busy season manageable! I suggest starting at the end of Junior Year working on finding the basics and prepping outfits. So when the time comes you are at ease about what your daughters are going to be wearing and can focus on the celebration at hand.
MAKE A LIST - Start with making a list of all the things you are planning on needing new outfits for. Each party, ceremony, even going into summer trips and rush. Line out each event and ideas of the kind of outfits you will need for them.
CHECK THE BASICS OFF - Most outfits will need basics like a nude heel or skirts and nice sneakers for rush. These are items that can be purchased ahead of time and not stressed over as events come your way. This is your foundation for bring a look together and looking polished!
TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE EVENTS - We all know the fight over hemlines and crop tops is a real one. By having a conversation with your teen ahead of time on why these events are important milestones in their lives and setting expectations you both agree on for the fit of their clothes will help making the shopping process easier.
ALTERATIONS-Don’t forget to have things altered and that you make time for this. Often, a little tweak here and there makes all the difference in making an outfit work for you.
